Environmental Stewardship in the Quran: A Study of Ecological Principles and Sustainable Practices

Abstract

This study examines the Qur’anic teachings on environmental management, emphasizing its environmental principles and sustainable practices. Through an analytical approach, the study analyzes relevant Quranic verses to reveal divine guidance on mankind’s responsibility towards creation. The study emphasizes that the Qur'an emphasizes balance (mizan), fairness (wastiyyah), and avoidance of corruption (fasaad) as the underlying principles of environmental protection. In addition, it addresses today’s environmental challenges in line with Quranic standards, and provides insights into sustainable practices in line with Islamic teachings. The findings highlight the timeless importance of the Quran in promoting ecological harmony and creating a sustainable relationship between humanity and the environment.
