Abstract

This deals with the interpretive guidelines of a scholar from the Ottoman state, namely Sheikh al-Islam, the scholar Radi al-Din al-Maqdisi Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Maqdisi, famously known as Ibn Abi al-Lutf, regarding Surat al-Fatihah, taken from his most important work in interpretation, which is his commentary on the interpretations of al-Kashshaf, al-Baydawi, and Abu al-Saud al-Mufti - may God Almighty have mercy on them - and he followed up on the scholars who preceded him, and he was keen in conveying the sayings of the scholars, and giving preference to one of them. This research consists of two sections, the first about the life of Al-Maqdisi, and the second about the interpretive directions in the Almighty’s saying: Thanks be to God, Lord of all worlds.
