Abstract
The ongoing environmental crisis facing the world today calls for a rethinking of how humans interact with nature. This study examines environmental stewardship through the lens of Quranic teachings, providing a theological foundation for sustainable living and environmental balance. The Qur’an emphasizes the profound responsibility of mankind as stewards (caliphates) of the earth, and encourages the ethical use of natural resources and ecosystems. Through an analysis of key Qur'anic verses and prophetic traditions (Hadith), the paper outlines the principles of conservation, simplicity, and waste prohibition (Israf) in line with the needs of the modern environment It is also examines the relevance of this teaching to address today’s environmental challenges including climate change, deforestation and pollutionCombining the wisdom of the Qur'an with contemporary environmental ethics, this research is based on a holistic approach that not only meets the requirements of environmental protection but also ethical and spiritual responsibilities as well. This strategy could see programs, education and grassroots efforts aimed at promoting environmental justice in the Islamic world and beyond.
