Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examines Quranic ethical principles through a comparative analysis of classical and contemporary interpretations, exploring how foundational values in the Quran are understood across different historical contexts. The research begins by outlining core Quranic ethics such as justice, mercy, honesty, and integrity and considers their interpretation in traditional exegeses, including works by al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir, highlighting the perspectives these scholars offered within their cultural and social settings. In contrast, the study reviews modern exegeses, such as those by al-Sha'rawi, al-Maraghi, and Ibn Ashur, focusing on the methodologies used by contemporary scholars to address evolving ethical challenges. By comparing classical and modern interpretations, this research identifies key similarities and differences in understanding Quranic ethics, examining the influence of social and cultural factors on these interpretations. The findings underscore the relevance of Quranic ethics in addressing contemporary moral issues, including globalization and intercultural harmony, illustrating how Quranic values provide a robust ethical framework adaptable to diverse societal needs. Concluding with recommendations, the study calls for further research into Quranic ethics to foster a balanced, comprehensive approach that integrates both classical and modern insights, ensuring a meaningful application of Quranic principles in today’s social landscape.
