Abstract

This study dealt with the manifestations of sadness and its effects in the collection “In the Courtyard of the Soul” by the Iraqi poet Hadeel Al-Kubaisy, as sadness is an essential element that extends throughout most modern poetic experiences. The poet's poems reflect feelings of depression, despair, loneliness, and alienation. Sadness also appears clearly in the experience of love affected by conditions of oppression and isolation.Poet Hadeel Al-Kubaisi uses multiple ways to express her experience of grief, such as crying, wailing, lamenting, and wailing, which reflects the depth of her feelings and personal pain. The study analyzed these poems using the descriptive analytical method to deduce the motives and consequences of sadness. The study concluded that sadness in Hadeel Al-Kubaisi’s poems stems from a deep personal and human experience affected by political and social events, which gives her texts a comprehensive human dimension that expresses pain.
