Abstract

This study examines the evolution of the Arabic languages and the factors that have led to their divergence and convergence over time. It begins by examining Arabic’s historical roots and development over the centuries, focusing on the impact of Islamic conquest and the spread of Arabic over time, geographical, social and foreign language influences shaped language varieties in regions such as the Levant, . Maghreb and Arabian Peninsula.  In the modern era, new factors such as globalization, mass media and social media play an important role in bringing projects closer together. These tools helped bridge the gap between languages by spreading the diversity of Arabic to the Arab world, providing a more widely understood "middle language" in different communities and even, further education formally, teaching Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) in particular, in the language of integration, MSA into everyday life has also contributed to its widespread use. In addition to globalization and education, migration and demographic changes greatly affected language overlap. Population growth in Arab countries and abroad has created direct contact between languages, allowing them to borrow new words and language structures from different sources Despite these overlapping factors, local languages face many challenges from MSA hegemony in education and journalism However, languages still play an important role in daily life and social interaction, reflecting the cultural identity of each region. Future predictions show that languages will remain regionally specific, but increased convergence is expected due to modern factors such as social media and migration The study highlights the importance of preserving local languages and it promotes the MSA as a unified instrument of communication across the Arab world. It calls for efforts to document and protect the rich linguistic heritage of each region, ensuring that the local language remains a living part of daily communication for future generations.
