THE ASPECTS OF QUR'ANIC DISCOURSE IN AL-BURHAN AND AL-ITQAN (A COMPARATIVE ANALYTICAL STUDY)

Abstract

This research article aims to examines and analyzes the styles and aspects of discourse in the Holy Quran as presented by Imam al-Zarkashi (d. 794 AH) in his book "Al-Burhan fi Ulum al-Quran" (The Proof in the Sciences of the Quran) and Imam al-Suyuti (d. 911 AH) in his book "Al-Itqan fi Ulum al-Quran" (The Perfect Guide to the Sciences of the Quran). In terms of methodology, to collect data this study adopts a qualitative approach based on library research. A descriptive analytical method was used to collect and examine the material from the two mentioned texts. This allowed the forms of Qur'anic discourse highlighted by the authors to be identified, analysed, and compared, ultimately revealing the commonalities and differences between them. The findings demonstrate that Imam al-Suyuti relied on "Al-Burhan" as a structural foundation, adding to it thorough investigation and organization. Imam al-Zarkashi distinguished himself by establishing the methodology, while Imam al-Suyuti expanded upon and documented the various aspects of Quranic discourse, thus highlighting the development of rhetorical sciences and the integration of the Quranic discourse
