Peninsula Publishing Press follows the COPE Core Practices and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (COPE, DOAJ, OASPA and WAME). The same duties apply to every journal.
Authors
- Submit original work that is not published and not under consideration elsewhere.
- Report data accurately and keep the underlying data available if the editor asks to see it.
- Cite sources, including their own earlier work where it is relevant. Plagiarism and duplicate publication are not accepted.
- Obtain ethics approval and informed consent where the work involves people or animals, and say so in the article.
- Disclose funding and competing interests.
- Describe any significant use of generative AI, as set out under Generative AI, and remain responsible for the text, data, images and references.
- Tell the editor promptly about a significant error in a published article.
- Meet the authorship criteria on the Authorship page.
Reviewers
- Review only work within their expertise, and decline if they have a conflict of interest.
- Give an objective, constructive report in the time agreed, and keep the manuscript confidential.
- Judge the methods, the evidence, the originality and the use of earlier literature.
- Tell the editor about suspected plagiarism, fabricated data, image manipulation or another ethical concern.
- Not upload the manuscript or the report to a generative AI tool.
- Not ask for citations that do not serve the article.
Reviewers are expected to follow the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers.
Editors
- Decide on academic merit alone, without regard to the authors’ identity or to payment of the article processing charge.
- Keep authors and reviewers confidential, according to the journal’s blinding model.
- Arrange an independent editor for their own submissions and for those of the publishing staff.
- Investigate concerns using the COPE flowcharts, and publish a correction or retraction when one is warranted.
- Refuse citation manipulation, including pressure to cite the journal without a scholarly reason.
The publisher
- Keep editorial decisions separate from the business of the company, including the article processing charge and stakeholder funds. See Business Model.
- Support editors when a case needs investigation, and publish the resulting notice.
- Name the owner, the office, the licence and the charges, on Publishing Staff and Author Fees.
- Provide these policies so that authors, reviewers and editors can see the standard they are held to.
